Joakim Marušić, 1966.

Categories: Feature Film

The 1966 television drama "Mediteranska klima" was produced by TV Zagreb (today's Croatian Radiotelevision - HRT) and filmed on location in Rijeka, Opatija, and other areas. This production holds a historic place in the development of domestic television and cinema due to the impressive creative team behind it. The film was directed by Joakim Marušić, one of the most prominent directors in Croatian television history, best known for the cult series "Velo misto" (1979–1981). The screenplay was written by Ivo Štivičić, an important Croatian writer celebrated by audiences for iconic works such as the dramatic series "Kuda idu divlje svinje" (1971). The plot explores the complex and emotionally tense relationships between men and women within urban, modern 1960s society. At the center of the story is Ana - an attractive and enigmatic woman whose behavior and presence bring turmoil into the lives of two men with completely opposite characters. Through intimate, psychologically profound conversations and unspoken tensions, under the metaphorical influence of a heavy "Mediterranean climate", the characters question their own loneliness, moral dilemmas, unfulfilled ambitions, and their search for genuine closeness.
