The BBC's high-budget series McMafia is a story about the globalization of organized crime in the digital world. Most London and Croatian locations were successfully used for shooting. The tunnel in Pećine, in city of Rijeka played tunnel in Doha. Creative team of the series also chose city of Opatija as an attractive shooting location for up to two weeks. The series was created according to the bestseller of the Guardian journalist Mishe Glenny.
