Categories: Feature Film

"Bandit crvenog svjetla" ("Sansone contro i pirati") is a historical adventure spectacle belonging to the peplum or "sword-and-sandal" genre. It was directed by Italian filmmaker Tanio Boccia under his recognizable pseudonym, Amerigo Anton. Produced by the Italian company Romana Film, parts of the movie were shot on location in Zagreb, Rijeka, and the Kvarner region. Due to this production, the famous British actress Margaret Lee stayed at Rijeka's Hotel Bonavia in April 1962 while filming scenes in the harbor. The plot follows the mythical hero Samson as he clashes with the cruel pirate Murad, nicknamed "The Sea Beast," who terrorizes the Antilles by plundering ships and selling captives into slavery. After a captured princess manages to escape on a raft, Samson rescues her at sea and embarks on a dangerous mission to infiltrate the pirate stronghold, defeat the ruthless bandits, and liberate all the oppressed slaves.
