The Italian romantic drama "Široka plava cesta" was adapted from Franco Solinas's novel Squarcio and brought to life as a co-production with Triglav Film. The prominent cast is led by international stars Yves Montand, Alida Valli, and Peter Carsten. While the narrative unfolds within a tight-knit Sicilian fishing community, the picturesque setting was actually doubled by the Dalmatian coast. Alongside locations in Dalmatia and Rome, production spanned northern Adriatic hubs like Poreč, Umag, Portorož, and Pula, with the film's final sequences captured in Crikvenica and Klimno Bay on the island of Krk. The shoot heavily relied on local authenticity, utilizing background extras, sailors, and fishermen from the town of Baška.
